Thanks to the power of Google Alerts, I came across the 2009 Horizon Report today.  The report was produced by The New Media Consortium. They are listed as “an international 501(c)3 not-for-profit consortium of more than 280 learning-focused organizations dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies.”

I was quite happy to see that QR Codes were listed as a “technology to watch“.

There are a lot of opportunities for QR Codes to help businesses extend their sales and marketing efforts.

However, they hold out just as much promise for helping schools, universities, teachers, students, and more… Yes, QR Codes absolutely have the potential to further education.
