Awesome News

comScore helped to generate a lot of smiles with the release of recent data on the number of people scanning QR Codes.

The title of the post certainly caught my attention: “14 Million Americans Scanned QR or Bar Codes on their Mobile Phones in June 2011“. This represents 6 percent of the U.S. mobile audience. As more and more people become smartphone owners and become familiar with QR Codes, this number will continue to rise. But even at the current number, I think it is certainly very encouraging for companies that are wondering whether they should consider using QR Codes to reach the mobile audience.

The comScore report also provides a number of other interesting breakdowns of the data. This includes:

  • Source and Location of QR Code Scanned
  • Demographic Profile of a QR Code User
