QR Codes are alive and well – and Taco Bell and ESPN have the statistics to prove it.
According to an article from 2d-code.co.uk, the fast food chain and sporting news monster partnered up for a promotion that ran from December 20th to February 3rd.
The article noted that the campaign for the Bowl Championship Series, “generated over 225,000 scans. QR Codes on variety 12 pack taco boxes and accompanying soda cups resolved to analyst Mark May previewing upcoming games.”
This promotion does a few things right. First, as you can see above, there is a great call to action right in the center of the label. It cross-promotes the BCS game schedule while keeping recognizable branding for Taco Bell and ESPN.
Additionally, it offers instructions for those who might not be familiar with QR Codes.
